Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How do I sign up?

A:  If you click HERE [CONTACT US] you will find ComiteMD contact information and can call or email our office.  However, to get the most out of our initial contact, follow the directions to create a Phone Consultation Request.  A ComiteMD team member will review the information you provide on the Phone Consultation Request prior to an initial call and “hit the ground running” for maximum effectiveness.

Q: What type of people sign up for your program?

A: ComiteMD Age Management patients include men and women who want to be proactive about their health. Our patients range from twenty-somethings to eighty-plus years in age, with an emphasis on individuals in their 40’s, 50’s and 60's. This includes:

  • Individuals who are fit and athletic, and desire to maintain their health and endurance
  • Individuals who have noticed that they are not working, playing, moving, or breathing as well as they once did and want to regain energy and strength, as well as those who are not fit and want to improve their overall vigor
  • Individuals who have been diagnosed with, or are borderline for, diabetes, heart disease, osteoporosis, or other diseases and want to prevent or reverse such disease.

Q: I'd like to start your program but I don't live in New York. Is that a problem?

A:  Not at all. The ComiteMD client profile includes out-of-state and international individuals. The comprehensive initial consultation requires an office visit, but subsequent quarterly assessments by the ComiteMD team take place over the phone, and are arranged around a patient's schedule.  Periodic office visits for follow-up occur at 3-6 month intervals. Blood testing, a critical diagnostic tool, is typically conducted at your home by a phlebotomist. These items and others are worked out, step-by-step, with the ComiteMD team.

Q: How soon will I start noticing changes?

A: Rate of change is unique to each patient and depends on a variety of factors that include body type, medical history, current health, genetic factors, lifestyle and degree of compliance with the program recommended by Dr. Comite.  That being said, we can report that after only several weeks, many of our patients experience weight loss, more defined muscle, increased energy, as well as changes in libido and sexual function.

Q: How long does the program last?

A: At the outset of your relationship with ComiteMD, you will undergo a comprehensive health assessment, the ComiteMD Executive Health Evaluation.  This assessment (1) generates data from which Dr. Comite will derive medical, nutrition and exercise recommendations, and (2) forms the baseline from which ComiteMD will measure your progress.  Conceivably, your relationship with ComiteMD could conclude once you have obtained your Executive Health Evaluation and recommendations (perhaps to implement under your primary  physician’s care). The overwhelming majority of ComiteMD patients, however, elect to continue working with Dr. Comite and her team in a follow-through program that assists you to implement her recommendations and provides regular health reassessments, periodic consultation and program tweaking where needed. Healthy aging is, by definition, a lifetime goal and therefore a continuous process. The ComiteMD Team is available to guide you through as many steps along the way as you desire.  Click HERE [OUR PROCESS] for a more detailed description of program components.

Q: Does everyone follow the same program?

A:  No.  Each patient follows a thoroughly individualized program.  While all ComiteMD patients similarly undergo an Executive Health Evaluation, a comprehensive initial consultation with Dr. Comite and progress monitoring, the program is tailored to the individual patient’s body type, lifestyle, current health, future health goals as well as medical and family histories.

Q: Do you accept insurance?

A:  ComiteMD does not accept insurance. Individual patient insurance coverage may be applicable, for instance in connection with diagnostic testing or prescription medicine. We do what we can to help patients receive reimbursement from their insurance where possible.

Q:  How often do I have to come to the office?

A:  Following an initial comprehensive office exam and consultation with Dr. Comite, we generally schedule quarterly telemedicine phone calls to monitor your progress, reassess your health goals and make program adjustments as needed.  Periodic follow-up visits with our exercise physiologist are scheduled every 3-6 months, as clinically warranted, and for patients outside of the New York area, the ComiteMD team takes into consideration individual travel schedules to best accommodate them.
